Dangerous ground...

Man/ Woman,....Does Anger define you?

Consider the following scriptures:

Gen 49:6 O my soul, come not thou into their secret; unto their assembly, mine honor, be not thou united: for in their anger they slew a man, and in their self-will they digged down a wall.Gen 49:7 Cursed be their anger, for it was fierce; and their wrath, for it was cruel: I will divide them in Jacob, and scatter them in Israel.

Prov 15:1 A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger.

Prov 15:18 A wrathful man stirreth up strife: but he that is slow to anger appeaseth strife.Prov 16:32 He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.Prov 19:11 The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

Mt 5:22 But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be in danger of being judged; and he who says to his brother, Raca, will be in danger from the Sanhedrin; and whoever says, You foolish one, will be in danger of the hell of fire.

Ending thoughts:

  • Anger is a caving in to a powerful surge of painful feelings. we may have sensed something within us about to give way due to; fatigue, failure or disillusionment about our goals and purposes. At the onset there seems little that can be done to prevent such a collapse. What is wrong? Some people are supprised and disturbed when they make such a self discovery. Yes it is true there is always the potential for the cave in.
  • We must come to see our selves as living in two very different worlds. Our outer or public world (measurable, visible and expandable) is made up of school, work, play, possessions and social net work. We spend a lot of time establishing life at the surface to prevent or heal pain. Unfortunately this is only effective to an extent and quickly the achievements wear off almost as soon as they are realized hence this is only a mere cover up when dealing with painful feelings (frustration, anger, jealously and stress).
  • More important than addressing symptoms (demands screaming for attention & action) of our public worlds, our inner private life of equally great depth carries the cause and cure to the core of the powerful surge of painful feelings. The private world of an individual is the battleground where the contest is fought and won especially for the Christian. Tell me how are you doing spiritually? How is your quite time (and I am not talking of doing church)?
  • The potential collapse follows when the inner world is ignored. Prov 4:23 Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
