Those Special Friends that you have in mind and have you in mind...


Proverbs 13: 20 says: He who walks with the wise grows wise but a companion of fools suffers harm.

In 1994 there was a shocking incident in America that shook many Christians, a young Christian called Josh Ming was shot dead while giving his cousin and friends a lift. Reports stated that the car he was driving was hit by at least 50 bullets.

Josh was a great kid, he was born again and to everyone in his church he was a model kid, respectful, courteous and considerate. So what went wrong?

It was reported at the time that the gang that "sprayed the car with bullets" were targetting Josh's cousin and friends and knew nothing about Josh. Josh just happened to be in the car with their target and got killed.

Contrast this with the story of Peter, Peter had written a series of books and for almost ten years was struggling to promote them. Through his friend Mike he was introduced to one of our Furaha captains. Our GHF captain presented Peter's work to delegates at Tony Blair's Commission for Africa, a year later Peter's books were recommended text for schools in several African countries.

So who are you hanging with? Are they helping you in your walk with Christ? Do they challenge you, or do they accept you without loving you?

In our longing for acceptance let us remember that when we are truly loved that is when we are truly accepted. Acceptance without love is like a swimming pool without water; empty.

Jer 29:11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the LORD, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
