Anything for A Friend?

Anything for a Friend?

SplashDown was fantastic! Woo hoo. I was scared to bits but I still went ahead and did it all the same. But there were more courageous dudes than me out there, two particularly stand out, Biddi and Josh. For them the scripture rings true that God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of love, power and a sound mind.

It is always great to spend time in God's word. Last week we looked at Proverbs 13:20 and the company we keep (i.e. circles of friendship), this week we had the opportunity to put into practise some of the things we learnt and discussed. The flumes and slides at Splashdown got our adrenaline rushing and the fellowship in Nandos reminded me that we have the spice of life and the salt of the earth which we must share with others.

We also had a practise on how to resolve disagreements, which is an important area of any relationship. We are exhorted to live at peace with all men, especially those that belong to the family of God. This does not mean we will never have disagreements, but rather to work through disagreements thinking, "am I doing this to please God or to please myself?"

You have to be a little bit daring to go on some of the flumes at Splashdown, but no one was as daring as Mayor, we will never forget Superbowl and neither will he. Mayor may have been daring, but Sean was determined to make his presence felt and that he did, making the biggest waves in the pool despite his size.

In our friendships we sometimes have to make sacrifices, other times we are called to go that extra mile and on other occassions we just have to be patient. Kiki was an example of patience as she watched over us and took our orders with the patience of Moses.

We often talk a great talk as Christians, and this is important, but it is also important to live a great life. Jesus said I have come that you may have life and have it more abundantly. You could say he's talking about living it up. One aspect of this abundant life is times of great fellowship like we had at SplashDown, this is very important as we live out our faith with each other, being real with each other and letting our light shine in the world.
